Wedding
Hi there! We have a lot of photo samples taken by us for you to view. To see packages or pricing information you may scroll down on this page to read all about it.

Congratulations on your engagement!
Whether you are planning a wedding for yourself or planning a wedding for someone else we would like to thank you for your interest in our photography services! My name is Katie Reed and I am the owner of Reed Through the Lens Photography. I've compiled some introductory information for you to review. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any additional questions.
I first started out following other photographers in my area to become more educated in the art of wedding photography. I then started second shooting and getting paid. During that time I worked beside 7 or so other talented ladies, I then started doing weddings on my own. I have countless hours of learning under my belt, I attended McNeese University's leisure learning course on photography, and have attended several inspiring styled photo shoots as well.
Reed Through The Lens Photography offers two wedding packages to choose from.
My pricing reflects the education, the hours of learning and doing, along with the amount of experience it has taken me to be able to create consistent images. Not to mention that the price also reflects what we are experiencing as a whole. If you have purchased anything recently whether it be groceries or gas then you have noticed increasing in prices for everything. It only makes sense that us small businesses take measures that reflect the economy to stay afloat also. When looking for your photographer, don't worry about spending less worry about getting great, solid images because at the end of the night all that you will have left is photos to look back on. After vows have been exchanged, portraits have been taken, and the DJ has stopped playing, your wedding photographs are one of the few things that remain from the day that you so carefully planned. It's a valid fear to think that you can't redo your wedding day! So please be certain that you pick a photographer that has experience. I love that I get to preserve the details and the memories so that they may be treasured for years to come by my clients and your families.
I do understand that for many young brides, I may be way out of reach. It’s just not feasible for your budget and I do understand. When I see people post looking for a “Budget-friendly” photographer, I know that they may not be expecting to pay a higher amount for photography. There are some people who value their wedding pics more than anything else because again... at the end of the day this is all that will be left! That’s the ONLY thing that’s important to them, so have you heard of the saying "they will Rob Peter to pay Paul" as long as they have the pics they’ve dreamed of. Meaning that some brides will cut into another budget to help with the photography budget. Some examples may be: choose jambalaya instead of shrimp and grits, or do cash bars instead of having open bars to help save money.

Diamond
(I RETIRED THIS PACKAGE OPTION)
This package did offer 8 hours of photography. I am so sorry to announce that due to back issues and being on my feet for so long at a time, I will no longer be offering 8 hour wedding days. I will continue to work the weddings that have contracts for the 8 hours, but will not be taking any more 8 hour wedding days. However if you find the 5 hour works for you, I would be so excited to work with you. I do find that 5 hours does give sufficient amount of content in my opinion. It is a popular package. If you really wanted 8 hours, I'm so very sorry, I will not be able to do it. There are many talented photographers out there that can fit your needs with a package similar to this one. Thanks for understanding.
Securing your date with us!
After confirming that we are an amazing fit for one another, if you would like to move forward with reserving your date a $500 non refundable retainer is required along with the signed wedding contract. You can let me know that we are a fit, and I can send over the contract to you and you both (spouse 1 and spouse 2) can sign and return it to me. In the contract it will explain the different ways that we accept payment. The $500 is non transferable to another person or non transferable to another date and there is no cash back.
The $500 does go towards your balance and does comes off of the total price once you pay it.
I hope that this guide will give you some understanding to my wedding package and pricing, but that is only a small part of who I am and what I do. I have attended many of classes and courses to help my growth in this field as well as worked along the side of many other talented photographers second shooting before I decided to venture out on my own. My priority on your wedding day is to produce the very best images without loosing sight of my goal, for you to enjoy your wedding with friends and family. I would love to hear from you and learn about your unique wedding and share my vision with you.
I also believe that when wedding photographers and clients have a relationship that it takes the pressure off being a total stranger on the wedding day when I show up. Knowing each other before hand will help us feel like friends, rather than a perfect stranger. So I do recommend adding on either an engagement session, bridal session, or boudoir session before your big day!

Indoor Reception photos
When booking a photographer whether it be me or someone else ask to look at their indoor photos. Examples of my indoor photography will be posted below. You want to make sure the photographer that you choose is able to take good photos without the advantage or benefit of natural light, because let's face it most venues that we have around this area do not have a whole lot of natural light coming through. Sometimes venues do not provide adequate lighting, therefore temporary lighting such as additional flashes may be used as a supplement. When choosing a photographer, if they do not have additional lights on stands like pictured in the first set of photos below, then just make sure that you like their indoor photos without the additional flash. The second set of photos below is examples of my work without using the additional flash system. I have photographed many weddings without the additional lighting (other than the flash on top of my camera) and they have turned out great. This post is just to give you a tip when choosing your wedding photographer to look at their indoor photos as well. These are different venues of course. I am just wanting to provide you with some examples.

Some brides may want to see Reception photos. Please keep in mind that your photos will reflect your venue. We can only get light and airy photos from a light and airy venue choice. Example if your venue has wood ceilings, wood floors, brick walls, brick accents, or even as much as wall colors being tan, beige, brown, etc this will be hard to achieve the bright and airy feel. Booking an all white venue will definitely help with the bright and airy feel. The photos listed below all look different due to them being different weddings held at different venues.
DJ lighting
This is a groom dancing with his mother in law. Hear me out about DJ lighting. I'm not here to bash any DJ's. I have enjoyed working with everyone. So this is not a bash post at all. This is an awareness post to my brides. This photo will be added to my website as an example of DJ lighting. With of course permission from the bride.
I do recommend in my contract to consult with the DJ about the lighting that they may use. These colored lights are pretty but they do interfere with our photos. While the lights set the mood to begin to party, they do cast color splotches and shading on our photos. Please Please discuss this with your DJ.
